As many parents will know as part of our Sustainability In Sport programme we ask parents to donate in hockey sticks that are too small and very welcome to choose a larger stick. We then regrip and repair sticks so they are available in really good condition and we really want to create a culture where people are proud to be part of this initiative.
To date since we launched it in 2021 we have recycled and reused 250 hockey sticks at mainly primarily school age group and most sticks will be reused 5 or 6 times as opposed to ending up in landfill.
Sticks and any old railway hockey kit can be handed back to the junior shed (always open during junior coaching sessions) and we are also close to having a green & yellow bin pitch side to allow parents and junior players to drop in any sticks or gear that no longer fits.
Thanks a mil for everyones support and also we are hoping to get a company to sponsor our Sustainability In Sport programme or helping out in any of our initiatives (like being able spend some time to regrip sticks etc) so anyone interested please contact us at ruhcgirls@gmail.com
