In 2004 when Railway Union Hockey Club installed its water based pitch we were very grateful to receive government funding to support the project.
Public funding to support significant capital projects such as new pitch facilities is critical to ensure that local clubs are able to deliver their hockey programmes.
As a club we have the full spectrium of players from under 6s just taking up the sport, social players and those returning to the sport. In addition we have a number of international / elite level sport including a number of players hoping to be selected for the Irish womens squad for the Tokyo Olympics and have a international standard pitch at our club to allow them to train when with their club is critically important.
In 2021, Railway have applied again for work towards replacing the playing surface which is no longer fit for purpose and we are hopeful Government and Sport Ireland will look on our application in a favorable light.
